The film consists of three stories taking place in different eras and deal with a woman’s place in the Estonian society and with the freedom to make her own choices. At the end of the 19th century Maara is wed against her will – it was the time when patriarchal traditions ruled. In 1949 Elina faces deportation – this is the oppression exercised by the political power. In the 21st century Luna Lee tries to escape the emptiness inside of her although freedom seems to be limitless. All three main characters are convincingly played by Rea Lest, who is one of the most popular actresses of the newer Estonian film. But there is also a visible or invisible web surprisingly connecting other characters and events whatever the century.
