Anders moves from the city to a quiet small farm that belonged to his parents and spends his days out in the forest, aimlessly chopping down trees. His only desire is to be out in nature, but this attempt is soon interrupted by the constant involvement of his pushy relatives. “Tree feller” is Jorunn Myklebust Syversen’s debut feature film, following her various contributions to video art. While making this film she didn’t give the main actors scripts but rather pages with specific instructions and descriptions for a more authentic and intimate form: “I want to make the viewer believe they’re sharing a secret with me. I want them to experience what they find disturbing in an emotional and almost physical way.”
