In late 1930ies, Latvia, a talented but poor artist Juris arrives in the capital, Riga, from the countryside. At the same time, another artist, arrogant Eizens, returns from Paris determined to get his hands on his rich uncle's wealth. All goes to plan until beautiful artist Ciemalda enters the picture, triggering a chain of unexpected events that will change everyone's lives for good. “Homo Novus”, directed by Anna Viduleja, is romantic comedy of errors and intrigues, made after the novel of Anslavs Eglītis. He is a Latvian writer, publicist, film critic, journalist and painter, who became famous in Latvia, later living the American dream and working as a part of Hollywood press group.
