Jimmie is the story about 4-year old Jimmie who has to go on a journey with his Dad and leave his Mom at home. But the journey never ends, and no one seems to know where they are going. Except it is away from something. As the film’s director Jesper Ganslandt states: “The film is based loosely on real accounts and testimonies from people who have fled their home.” It is a series of events told from a child’s perspective. Some of them grim and unfair to the people in the story and some are obstacles to overcome. But seen from Jimmies eyes they transform, he never judges or dismiss. The fragments of Jimmie’s journey explore his fear of being left behind, the discovery of worlds unknown and how missing a parent really hurts.
